6. analyse 2 film title sequences

Analysis of Title Sequences from Art of The Title (Volume 2)

Title sequence 1: 'Coraline' - We first saw the company name followed by the film title and then going on to the names of the cast, after that, there appeared to be a scene where there was a range of visual images linking to the film. The title sequence resembles the setting of the actual film. The colours shown represent the type of film it is; for children but still dark. The noises we hear are quite eerie, creepy but childish at the same time, (possibly a xylophone).

Title sequence 2: 'Hellboy II' - There is a short scene where the main character is shown as a teen, going to bed with a gun, while his father watches him. We then see animated mechanical objects where some credits are shown. We see symbols (devilish, linked to film), mechanical objects, which we can hear too. Overall there is a lot of red.

Title sequence 3: '300' - We straight away see animated silhouettes of a battle and warriors with bows and arrows, this tells us that it may be an old film. Credits are shown on top of these animations, such as the production team, the company name. When the film title comes up, the background animation turns more black than before, where there was more yellow and red. After that, there was the names of the cast members, and more splats of blood. The font was dark but a bit comic-like.
