Analysis of title sequences ' Art of the title'

(Volume 3)

Title sequence 1: Coraline- Watching the beginning of this title sequence we are first shown the image of the company name in bold writing which is then followed by the name of the film. The font and colour of this title gives the sense of it being sewn onto the screen. There is a fade in of spooky music playing in the background, which gives the sense of the genre. It then goes on to show the names of the actors. Further on we are giving a sense of where the film is set. we are then shown images of a voodoo doll being taken apart and put back together which might resemble the main character in the film.

Title sequence 2: Hellboy2- We are first introduced to the main characters one being young Hellboy, who looks quite unusual. He is getting into bed while holding a gun this may show that he needs protection at all times. It then goes on to a animated clip which shows a range of mechanical equipment all images shown in this short clip are coloured red relating to the title 'Hell'. There are a range of images/text which may relate to science or mathematics. We are then shown the mechanical objects coming together to show The title of the film.

Title sequence 3: 300- This title sequence is a completely different clip to the movie as the clip used is animated. We are first shown who the film is directed by and then it goes on to show the names of the production team. The font of all the text used in this clip is coloured red and resembles blood. There are many dark, spooky colours used throughout. The animated clips show explicit violence, and which relates to the genre and the plot of the film. The use of arrows used as weapons show the time the film is set in.There is tribal music playing in the background.
