12. Target audience research task 1

A target audience is what kind of people the film is aimed at.
There are different genres in film and there will be different target audiences for them all.

For example, a film like Dad's Army, is aimed at elderly audiences, that might be able to relate to the characters in the film.

1.) The most popular genre with UK audiences were drama, documentary and entertainment

2.) i would like to work in teen/high school drama as a genre

3.) teenagers, girls, middle class, would most likely prefer this genre

4.) this group might also enjoy romance films, comedy, family or even teen thrillers

5.) our film will most likely have a setting in a high school, with ordinary people as characters that you might come across on a daily basis - relatable

6.) my target audience could be teenagers who are in school, there will be characters who might remind the audience of someone they know, and therefore leave the audience thinking about the film even after it has ended. Main characters play a big role in engaging the audience. The reason i would suggest that it is targeted at young people is because people who were born in the 20th century, most likely were a lot different to the teenagers of the 21st century and therefore cant relate as well.

7.) my wider audience could be adults, (in their 20s), this could be because they want to have an insight of what goes on in a teen drama. i read an article of a 22 year old man, who says "i have always had a weakness for teen films so I was looking forward to Lindsay Lohan's (who really impressed me in 'Freaky Friday' and the much underrated 'Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen') latest. It exceeded my expectations". Therefore, i would assume that teenagers and young adults would be interested in teen dramas because of the small age gap.
