7. What conclusion can you make about the titles used in title sequences?

7. What conclusion can you make about the titles used in title sequences?

After watching various Title sequences I have come to realise they all start a similar way and the titles are in a similar order.

The order usually goes:

Distributor
Film Presenter
Production Company
Main actors
Film Title
Cast
Cast director

After this point the titles may change in order but will definitely include:

Costume Designer
Music Supervisor
Editor
Designer of Prod.
Production of photography
And other titles

Some titles may include:

Visual effects supervisor
Visual effects producers
And others

In the film Se7en this is the order of titles:

0:07           - New Line Cinema Presents
0:08           - An Arnold Kopelson Production
0:12           - A Film By David Fincher
0:15           - Brad Pitt                                 (Main Actor)
0:19           - Morgan Freeman                    (Main Actress)
0:25           - Se7en                                     (Film Title)
0:31-1:07  - Main Cast
1:12          - Cast Directors
1:18          - Music Supervisor
1:23          - Costume Designer
1:25          - Editor
1:27          - Designer of Production
1:36          - Director of Photography
1:41          - Co-producers
1:46          - Co-exective Produers
1:51          - Executive Prduccers
1:55          - Writer
2:00          - Producer
2:06          - Director

In the title sequence the director’s name has been displayed for a longer period of time compared to the other titles. Some titles may get their own time and not be show next to others, e.g. the Writer, Director and Main actor. However, the Production team and other members of the cast have their names grouped together and their title is on screen for a shorter time than the directors name, this is because, titles in title sequences are shown in the order of importance. The main characters, which are usually two, like in Se7en, are presented right after the production company and before the title of the film. The title of the film is shown later on as the characters are shown first and the names of the actors aren't presented in alphabetical order because it is shown in order of roles.
